EM is a high school graduate and two year Temple University Sports Management major with a bubbly, relaxed personality. Not to mention, so much strength, assurance, potential and drive. While her parents divorced at a difficult age for any teenager, both her parents stayed involved in her and her sibling's lives. Having to navigate through the already present pressures of teenagehood, EM had to manage a new family dynamic. Through those obstacles, EM was reminded of how her mother would tell her and her younger brother that it was necessary to "look at the glass half full." As she pushed through those difficult changes with her family, she was still just a high schooler hoping to get into a great college. Therefore, junior year EM decided to tryout for her school's varsity volleyball team. Without any preparation, she went in feeling sure of herself and abilities. Making it past the first round, she was feeling positive and proud. Soon she realized the difficulty of the sport and did not make it past round two, and was cut. Despite her efforts, she underestimated the preparation that was necessary to be able to perform and perform well. From then on, EM became very aware that despite feeling self assured, she needed to be prepared to ensure a positive outcome. As she graduated and went on to college she started to practice such notions. Just recently, she started employment at one of her various jobs, this time as a cater waiter. She was used to working group assignments and events, but got put on a simple dinner party where she was the only waiter available to the guests. Despite being nervous and unsure of herself, EM propelled through the night and was able to apply her skills and surprise her own self. The beauty of asking such questions to people such as EM is being able to see the parallels of their experiences in life. Having the opportunity to get people thinking about how their own actions and decisions truly impacts their lives is a very special process. EM's take on confidence dealt more with ability and achievements rather than perception and discovered capabilities. She spoke prominently it being healthy and necessary for people trust in themselves based off of previous achievements and understanding of one's own abilities. Confidence is a trait that should be defined by each individual and is based off of personal experiences in life.
